Tahirih Escaping from Tehran

In 1848, a few days after her dramatic escape from Qazvin, Baha’u’llah arranged for Tahirih, and her female attendant, to travel in secrecy  so they could join a gathering of Babi’s at the Conference of Badasht in Khurasan.    In this painting we see Tahirih, and her maidservant Qanitih, narrowly escaping detection as they passed the famous gates of Shimiran, on the outskirts of Tehran.
