Shaykh Ahmad & Siyyid Kazim in Karbila

The Dawn-Breakers ,  begins with the story of Shaykh Ahmad, a   divine mystic from the Arabian Peninsula  who founded the Shaykhi school in Karbila. He was initiated in the mysteries of Divine Revelation and therefore qualified to interpret and unravel the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad and the Twelve Imams. He gave great significance to the mystical stations of the Imams whose light he considered to be like the rays of the sun assisted by God through the Holy Spirit. He prepared his followers for the imminent return of the Twelfth Imam who had gone into Occultation a thousand years earlier when he disappeared down a cave under a mosque near Samarra a city north of Baghdad.

When Siyyid Kazim arrived from Persia, Shaykh Ahmad addressed him saying “I welcome you O my friend! How long and eagerly have I waited for you.” In this painting we witness the moment Shaykh Ahmad is welcoming Siyyid Kazim at the entrance to the shrine of the Imam Husayn in Karbila…
