Tahirih Teaching in Tehran

When Tahirih returned to Tehran from The Conference of Badasht,  she was placed in custody by the authorities and escorted to the Governor Mahmud Khan-i-Kalantar’s house where she was placed in confinement. The governor’s wife Robabih treated her with the utmost respect and her stay in Tehran marked the pinnacle of Tahirih’s popularity as the governor’s house was besieged by women admirers and dignitaries from all walks of society, eager to meet her and learn the dynamic principles of the New Dispensation.

In this painting we see Tahirih talking to some guests who left a feast held in the honor of the Governor’s son in order to listen to her inspired conversation explaining the principles of the Bab’s Cause.
